Umrah Packing List: What to Bring from the USA
Packing well for Umrah means bringing what you need for worship and comfort without weighing yourself down. This checklist is written for pilgrims travelling from the USA, covering the Saudi climate, airline luggage limits and the practical items that make the journey smoother.
Ihram and clothing
Men should pack two sets of ihram garments (the two white unstitched cloths) plus a belt and comfortable sandals. Women wear ordinary modest clothing in loose, breathable fabrics. Bring a few changes of clothes, as Makkah and Madinah can be warm even outside summer.
Footwear and a small bag
You will walk a great deal, so comfortable, easy-to-remove sandals are essential. A small drawstring bag for your shoes is invaluable at the Haram, where you carry footwear with you. A light day bag for water and essentials also helps.
Toiletries (unscented in ihram)
While in ihram, scented products are avoided, so pack unscented soap, shampoo and deodorant. Bring travel-sized toiletries, a toothbrush, any personal care items, and sunscreen for the daytime heat.
Documents and money
Carry your passport, a printed copy of your itinerary and visa, and some Saudi riyal for small purchases and donations. Keep digital copies of key documents in your phone or email as a backup.
Electronics and extras
