Umrah Visa Requirements for US Citizens (2026)
The Saudi government issues Umrah visas through authorised tour operators. At Umrah Package USA, we handle the full visa application on your behalf. The documents you need to provide are:
- Valid passport — must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended travel date
- Passport-style photograph — white background, full face visible, taken within the last 6 months
- Proof of vaccination — meningitis (ACYW) vaccine is mandatory; COVID-19 vaccination requirements should be confirmed at the time of travel as policies have changed
- Flight booking confirmation — your round-trip itinerary (we provide this as part of your package)
- Hotel confirmation in Makkah and Madinah — (we provide this as part of your package)
- Mahram documentation for women under 45 — female pilgrims under 45 travelling without a male guardian must travel in a group with a licensed tour operator and provide proof of relationship

How Long Does Umrah Visa Processing Take from the USA?
Standard Umrah visa processing from the USA takes between 3 and 7 business days once all documents are submitted correctly. We recommend applying at least 3–4 weeks before your travel date to allow time for any documentation queries. During peak periods such as Ramadan, processing demand is higher and earlier application is advisable.
Umrah Visa for Green Card Holders
Permanent US residents (green card holders) apply using their national passport, not a US passport. You will need your valid national passport, your US green card, the standard documents listed above and your flight and hotel booking. Meningitis Vaccination Requirement
Saudi Arabia requires proof of meningitis vaccination (meningococcal ACYW-135) for all Umrah pilgrims. The vaccine must typically be administered at least 10 days before arrival in Saudi Arabia. Your GP, a travel health clinic or a pharmacy offering travel vaccinations can administer this. Keep the certificate — it is required for entry.

What if my passport expires within 6 months of travel?
